“In a sea of hard surfaces and cool tones, the warm texture of “Plyboo” bamboo is the star of the show.
The design team, in close collaboration with the owner, selected sustainable materials to create a modern and dynamic environment for staff and members. At the main reception area the natural grain of the bamboo compliments the linear pattern of the carpet, but contrasts the curvilinear shape of the millwork. The exposed edge grain of the “Plyboo” bamboo library shelving is a nice and unexpected detail upon closer examination.”

“The use of Plyboo for this project was a natural fit both from a design standpoint and sustainability. The Plyboo panels selected have a linear grain pattern that augments the linear design of the project and is readily stainable. The use of Plyboo also contributes toward the Harold Washington Social Security Center achieving targeted Existing Building LEED Silver.”

“DuraPalm is used to capture the first impression in the entry area with its dimensional appearance. Given the warm, inviting, contemporary atmosphere, the exotic coconut textured interwoven planks create a nestled cozy greeting area to welcome new guests into this Asian influenced design concept.”
